Throughout the 2019-2020 academic year, I had the immense honor to serve as David J. Beck Fellow. The David J. Beck Fellowship is the highest achievement an undergraduate can receive at Lamar. A component of this fellowship is to undertake a research project. For my project, I travelled to Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico to interview deported veterans. While in Tijuana, I took the opportunity to immerse myself in the culture and history of the Nepantlic-esque border town. Thereafter, I compiled my interviews into a presentation for the Beck Fellowship banquet the following fall.
